Engineer II - Discovery
Job purpose and key deliverables
The tobacco category is changing rapidly. There is an opportunity to help define and shape the future of the industry working in a highly energetic and influential team of innovators and product developers specifically focussed on next generation and breakthrough product concepts.
Working alongside the Research & Development, Commercial and Marketing communities, the ideal candidate will work with a team of technologists, product developers and engineers to identify and develop early stage ideas and concepts into products and prototypes, helping to push BAT forward as the global leader in the Next Generation Product (NGP) category.
The role will be based in Southampton, England at the company’s Global R&D Centre with regular travel within the UK and occasional overseas travel.
To lead assigned projects and workstreams in early stages of product development.
Support the Senior Engineer in running concept prototyping.
Engage and manage development activities with internal and external stakeholders.
Manage early stage development projects, including consumer safety and regulatory compliance.
Support the Intellectual Property (IP) strategy by developing solid IP to protect BAT’s interests.
Support and manage the development of devices based on a clear understanding of fundamental scientific and engineering principles.
Ensure on time and in full delivery of device specifications for new product or product modification.
Science, Engineering degree, or equivalent experience in Product Development.
Experience in managing product development projects.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the key business activities relating to product design, manufacture, and evaluation of products to meet consumer and commercial needs.
Demonstrated leadership in driving projects to completion and escalate risks and issues in a timely manner.
Awareness of contemporary consumer products innovation techniques.
Demonstrate strategic planning and implementation skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to influence key senior level stakeholders.
Base salary from £43 000 to £54 000 per year, depending of relevant experience
Bonus target 20% of annual base salary
25 days annual leave
