Job purpose and key deliverables
British American Tobacco currently has an exciting new opportunity for an EHS Manager, to be based in our Madani factory on a permanent basis.
The EHS, Fleet & Facilities Manager is responsible to develop, implement and maintain an integrated management system and controls that ensures best practice performance in Environment, Health and Safety management within BAT Sudan sites. Advising on all EHS risks, internal and external, arising from activities and hence minimizing the risks and environmental impact of BAT operations.
Maintain the building to ensure that the working environment and its surroundings provide a safe, secure and pleasant workplace at all times.
Manage PRO’s, drivers and office support work distribution.
Ensure information to the Leadership team and Management on impact of EH&S and their responsibility in driving the EHS agenda
Give support and direction to line management that will ensure the identification and evaluation of existing and potential EH&S risks to the business
Main liaison for EH&S managers at Commercial sites to develop and implement best practice and policy
Propose and implement actions to mitigate risk through identified responsible people.
Ensure compliance with the relevant environmental Health and Safety Legislation and BAT standards and policies
Develop and manage the EHS budget and budget analysis against business plan
Carry out organizational reviews and workplace inspections completion of the company's periodic internal self-assessment and EHS progress
Annual EHS reports and submission to Regional EH&S Team
Conduct EHS reviews - self assessment and Organizational reviews
Lead maintenance and facilities support to ensure efficient running of the Egypt office building and daily operations.
Individual and team performance target identified, measured, feedback given and appropriate developmental or other corrective action taken.
Lead the activities of the EHS Steering and management committees, give direction and advice to the activities of the EH&S managers.
Ensure that appropriate training materials are available for all employees, contractors and visitors to have a complete understanding of the procedures to safeguard the work environment and the health and safety of all persons and BAT assets
Motivate and guide line management in the implementation of procedures and solutions to reduce EHS impact of relevant activities
Promote the EHS agenda at all levels in the organisation
Management of fire prevention and protection programmes and compliance with applicable Legal Requirements.
Initiate and coordinate occupational environment improvements within BAT sites and promote well being in the work place
Drive waste management to reduce the company's environmental impact- application of the 3R principle
Track performance of agreed action plans and report to EH&S Senior Sponsor on a regular basis
Provide training and development opportunities for staff to ensure potential is realised and job performance is optimised for maximum benefit to them and Company.
Manage financial resources in an effective way to generate savings without compromising service qualities.
Provide expert advice and coaching to employees where appropriate.
Understand / is in touch with employee opinions and anticipate their needs and concerns.
Ensure that service level agreements are put in place for all providers and continuously monitor quality of service.
Development of ideas and procedures that will enhance the EHS awareness in the company
Implementation of best practice solutions shared with professionals locally and within the BAT group.
Continually improve internal processes to enhance customer services and generate savings.
A minimum of a bachelor's degree and a possession of a recognised qualification in Environment, Health and Safety.
Ensure good relationship with Functional heads and departmental EHS committee chairmen for smooth implementation of EHS processes and projects
As the technical expert on EHS compliance, champion and ensure full compliance of EH&S legislation at all levels of the company through building support from all team members
Develop long term strategies to take advantage of anticipated changes to EH&S regulatory framework
Poses good knowledge of EHS operations and maintenance to enable effective decision making on risk assessment based on knowledge
Set challenging and realistic goals and create an environment designed for progression towards best practice risk management
Understand the processes within the business to enable decision making on work environment
Understand the product to enable occupational environment and waste management decision making
Develop and sustain a collaborative approach to EH&S across suppliers and contractors
Effective communication and influential skills with all levels of the company
A sound understanding of risk management principles and their application to the business
Competent in computer skills
A good knowledge of the environmental health and safety laws and legal processes
In depth knowledge of all the processes and company operations
Strong organisation skills
